Initiating dBAsk

dBAsk is invoked as:

$UDFTOOL_HOME/bin/dBAsk
NOTE: If $UDFTOOL_HOME/bin is in your search path (PATH environment variable) you do not need to pre-append this to the command and can invoke the program as dBAsk.

This will bring up the menu:

The menu is divided into five distinct areas. At the top of the menu are a series of buttons from which the various supported menu actions are selected. Beneath the action buttons are the UDF lineage buttons. These specify which UDF components are used when performing various actions. Below the UDF lineage buttons are the time filters used in specifying time ranges over which and action takes place. The large open area occupying the central portion of the menu is the display region. Results of querying a database will appear here. To the right-hand side are several buttons. The first three (PIDF, VIDF, and DATA) are used to select different UDF components. You may use these in any combination to view the data. The VIRTUAL and NONE buttons allow you to group (or not group) the data by virtual instrument in the display.

The QUIT at the top right allows you to exit the program at any time.
