Introduction

This document describes the UDF IDL interface. The interface is provided by the UDFToIDL software package and consists of a set of IDL registered routines which allows direct access to data stored both in UDF and IDFS format. Package features include:

• The ability to access all classes of UDF data.
• All defined UDF measurements are returned in a single read.
• UDF matrix data are returned as a full matrix of values.
• Measurements returned in up to two units.
• A large range of KEYWORDS available to customize the returned IDL UDF data structure.
• A simple pre-IDL GUI menu to easily select, set and save the UDF defined IDL keywords for a single UDF definition.
• Random as well as linear access to the data.
