The Action Options

The three buttons located in the top row on the UdfUnits main menu define action to be taken by the menu. The actions initiated by each are described below.

READ

The READ button causes the PIDF associated with the defined UDF source to be read. This needs to be done if this is a new keyword definition file or if there have been changes to the PIDF since it was last accessed. Once the PIDF has been parsed a set of measurement/unit windows are established. The building of the measurement-unit windows is a one time task. Once established they are not recreated. There will be at least one window established for each defined data section (SENSOR, ANCILLARY, MODE, ARRAY INDICES) in the PIDF. Each window holds 20 measurement definitions and each measurement has two associated unit definitions with it. Both unit definitions are initially set to the same unit which is the unit determined by the current setting of the UNITS option. Access to the various windows is through the buttons which appear in th open area of the menu.

A typical menu with access buttons is shown below.

That there is no MODE access button follows from the fact that there is no MODE section in the IMES0IMG PIDF definition.

SAVE

The SAVE button saves the menu selections into the Menu File used when calling the UdfUnits script. If no file was entered on the command line then the file is saved to the file UDFUNITS.save. The saved menu can to be used as input to both the UDF_KEY routine and back into UdfUnits.

NOTE: When a previously defined Menu File was used as input to UdfUnits, the file will be overwritten in the SAVE function. If the input Menu needs to be saved independent of the newly selected options then it should be first copied to another file and then either the copy or original should be used as input to UdfUnits.

QUIT

The QUIT button exit the UdfUnits Menu. There is no SAVE performed on the exit.
