The Request Function

The REQUEST button processes the selected options under the PACKAGES and SHOW columns. Multiple options may be selected from both columns. The results of the request action will be displayed in the Central Display Region.

The figure below shows results from a typical REQUEST:

The REQUEST was to see what document packages are currently installed on the local system. Each line in the Central Display contains information on one document package. Beginning from left to right, PKG is the package name, ELEMENT is the package family under which the package is listed, INSTALLED is the local installed version and DATABASE is a version available at the software archive. In this case since we are not interacting with the archive they are all ----.

NOTE: The Central Display is cleared every time a new REQUEST is initiated.
