Initiating the UDF LIBRARIAN

The UDF LIBRARIAN is invoked as:

$UDFTOOL_HOME/bin/udfLibrarian
NOTE: If $UDFTOOL_HOME/bin is in your search path (PATH environment variable) you do not need to preappend it to the command and can invoke the program simply as udfLibrarian.

This will bring up the menu:

The menu is separated into four distinct areas based on usage. The upper row of buttons are action buttons. The buttons REQUEST and INSTALL allow cross checks of what is currently installed vs what is available to be installed and updating of old or installation of new software respectively. The DEINSTALL button comes up in a muted state and is only active when the user requests to see packages which are currently installed on the system. The CHANGE SERVER button allows the user to manually switch between software package servers should more than one exist. If there is only one the button is disabled. QUIT terminates the application.

The PACKAGES options are used to select what software packages are being queried and the SHOW options are used to select what filters are to be used when comparing packages installed on the system to those available from the Software Archive. Results are displayed in the large open area.
