ARCHIVE CODES

The ARCHIVE CODE button in the main aTool menu brings up the archive code information and configuration menu.

which allows for the addition of archive codes into the ArchiveInfo file.

The main window in the menu displays the contents of the local ArchiveInfo file which is located in the $UDF_HOME/Archives directory. The top two lines are a descriptive header and all remaining lines are definitions of existing archive codes on this system together with their corresponding directories. If no archives have been set up on the system there will probably be no defined archive codes in which case the window will just contain the two top header lines.

Below the main window are two option buttons. The NEW option is used to add an archive code definition. The DELETE option will remove an archive code definition. DELETE does not remove either the archive directory pointed to by the deleted archive code nor its contents, but just removes the definition from the ArchiveInfo file.

NEW

The NEW option is used to add an archive code to the ArchiveInfo file. It brings up the submenu

which contains the information fields needed in defining an archive code. Once the fields are filled in select CREATE to update ArchiveInfo file. ABANDON will quit this menu while RESET will put all of the fields back into their default state.

ARCHIVE CODE

Enter an archive code. This is an arbitrary alpha-numeric string of length 3 which will be associated with the directory in the next field.

DATA DIRECTORY

This is the directory associated with the above archive code. All archived content or to be archived items associated with this archive code are obtained from or placed into this directory.

DELETE option

The DELETE option deletes the hilighted archive code. This consists of removing the entry from the ArchiveInfo file only.
