Subj:	RE: Missing or damaged PWI files

I have checked on the data files which you listed in your message of
July 8. The following data files have been re-generated and are now
on-line: PWI_82275.DAT, PWI_83267.DAT, PWI_83080.DAT. The files
can be accessed and copied remotely from DISK$DATA:[DEPWI]. If you
would prefer, we can copy the files to a 9-track tape. Please let
me know.

The remaining files contained 0 blocks because we had no data for
those days on the telemetry platters which we received from
Goddard. It was our decision to create empty data files for those
intervals to indicate to the user that data gpas exist for those
intervals.

Since we closed our last platter and completed our archiving tasks
(i.e., ran out of money), we did receive some "fill-in" platters
containing pieces of PWI data from the early years. Although we
have back-up tapes containing the raw telemetry data for these
intervals, we have not processed the data and archived it because
we lack the funds and personnel, who have been re-directed to
other projects.

We contracted to archive all of the PWI data from 81259 - 84175.
We have no plans to archive any data after 84175, the day when we
lost access to our high frequency data.

If you have any further problems with the PWI platters, please
let me know. If you decide to copy those three data files, please
let me know when I can delete them. If you want us to copy them
to 9-track tape and mail them to you, we'll be happy to do it.
